Five years of marriage or fooling around? Five years of love or sexual desire? Five years of living or hiding?

These questions haunted a couple from day one, prying on their freedom to do as they pleased. This is the story of a marriage embroiled in forbidden love and desire, a marriage burdened by the two contradictory extremes of honor and passion in sub-continental society. When one partner tries to rekindle the lost affection with other, the narrator tries to explain to us why forsaking everything; their parents, society, religion and the teachings of God was not such a bad idea. Or was it?

Torn between the will to live their lives as they please and the norms of the traditional and religious society of Pakistan, will these two forbidden lovers find consolation in their love for each other on this ‘second honeymoon’?

Not only the subject was a challenging one and the writer pull it off with great excellence and strong ability to narrate but also the placements, detailing and descriptions of scenes did justice to the story.

Thought-provoking, bold and honest. One of the rare gems to find especially coming from a Pakistani origin. The writing is excellent. Beautifully executed; a must read short story.

A short story that has so much to say. The success of this story is that there are so many things that stay with the reader and the description is on point.

To be able to introduce so many necessary elements of depth plaguing our country in a piece so short, and being able to involve the reader with equal ferocity, is truly a sign of skill and the creative mind.
Omer Malik has forced us to reconsider the perceptions of the society we live in, as well as much of our own.
Brilliant read.
