Abdul Samad Khan

Abdul Samad Khan belongs to the Alikozai line of Pukhtuns, hailing from Tehkalbala, Peshawar. A distinguished military officer with a Mechanical Engineering degree and an MSc. in Production Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, he has held various important appointments in the army. He has also served in the Heavy Industries, Taxila and Pakistan Ordnance Factories, Wah. He retired from the army with the rank of a Brigadier. After retirement, he ventured into the field of industry and was the Chief Executive Officer of Olympia Paper and Board Mills, Peshawar, of which he was part owner. He has been on the Executive Board of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has also been a Member of the Syndicate of the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. He is the President of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Foundation, Peshawar. Born and bred in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he feels strongly about the wasted talent of the Pukhtun and has translated the seminal work of Qazi Ataulah Khan from Pukhto to English to awaken his Pukhtun brothers to their vast potential. In this vein, he has also been assisting in the editing of another vital publication on the Pukhtun, the exhaustive "History of the Pathans" by Brigadier Haroon Rashid. He lives with his family in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan.
