This book argues that although formal colonial rule ended, colonial influence still exists through language, culture, education, media, and global discourse. It explains that many commonly used words were created during the colonial era and continue to carry hidden ideologies that shape how societies think about themselves and others. These “colonial words” were originally used to justify domination and still influence politics, academics, and international relations today.

The book’s main goal is to expose how language functions as a tool of power and control. Across five chapters, it analyzes important colonial terms by exploring their historical origins, political purposes, and modern-day impact. The author connects past systems of domination with present inequalities, showing how colonial thinking survives in symbolic and intellectual forms.

Written for students, researchers, and general readers, the book encourages critical thinking, intellectual independence, and awareness of how language shapes perception and power. Ultimately, it aims to inspire readers to question accepted narratives and reflect more deeply on the words they use every day.
