Chocolate by Afraz Jabeen is a deeply moving book about childhood trauma that captures the tragic loss of innocence. Childhood is an invaluable part of a person's journey; it is a priceless wealth that is unparalleled. The cheerfulness, innocence, and mischief of this age are the true assets of life. However, this Urdu novel about a painful childhood tells a story of when that wealth is stolen.
Childhood is like a garden where there are thorns along with flowers. This is the story of a flower that was injured by a thorn in the guise of a flower. As a result, the flower lost its garden and became a toy of thorns in a world where hurting others is a source of satisfaction. As one of the most poignant Urdu childhood trauma novels, it explores the reality of a wounded, distorted soul living among those thorns.
This childhood trauma book asks the ultimate question: Will this flower ever come back to life? Will it allow any other flower to bloom in the courtyard of the garden? Among emotional Urdu novels, Chocolate stands out for its raw, lyrical portrayal of survival.
If you are searching for child abuse Urdu novels that combine literary beauty with a heart-wrenching message, Afraz Jabeen’s work is an essential read. Discover a story that gives a voice to the voiceless and looks for hope in the shadows of the past.

Women Literature has a quality that every word seems to be dripped in femininity, same is the case with 'Chocolate'.
I loved how the two narratives were going together hand-in-hand, it kept me engaged all the time.
Moving towards the subject matter, the attitude of Saira's parents is so aptly represented, kudos to the writer who mustered up enough courage to highlight this social evil, where there is no godfather present for Saira and its just her and her injured self that has to survive.

This story has touched a very sensitive issue of our modern day society and as a society we are in dire need of stories like these for the raising the awareness in masses that it is more critical issue than it apparently seems and how we can stop it by raising our voice at first place and listing to victim's voice. And for the story it's amazing that how well you have discussed this matter in such a short story.
