Flycatcher 7 Reviews

By: Zain Rizwan

A surreal fiction that involves a character who narrates the beginning like any other story, he is in his bed, lost in thoughts with a journal ahead of him and trying very hard to pour down words upon words, to start a story that could matter. After several minutes he writes down about a character that is in his bed, lost in thought, with a journal.

In confusion and horror of reality he didn’t know what is going on, is he himself writing down his existence?

Or is he part of something else, is he a character?

Who wrote down a character and so on to an infinite chain of characters?

Then who is the alpha?

Who is the one in control?

As five characters come to realize they are part of a story being controlled by their creator, the writer himself, they fight a battle that puts the existence of both the writer and his characters in danger. The characters want to flee which will erase the writer, while writer wants to erase them for the pleasure of the reader.

In a dreamscape of madness between writer and the written, only the victor gets the blessing to exist.
