Preface
The evolution of life is a natural process of life itself; you plant a few seeds in the right soil, look after them properly and they will turn into an attractive field with the passage of time.
Human beings are the same… but instead of a seed growing in soil, he or she is a lively drop in a male which grows into a human being inside a female. That is how we grew from just one pair of human beings into billions. A common quality of all, be they plants, animals, or humans, is self-awareness and the wish to grow, which is deposited in all beings by nature.
But humans differ from all other beings in value! All things are made for us; we consume the products of plants such as fruits and vegetables, and slaughter whatever we like… but a common question arises…
What are we made for?
The Quran replies: “I created the jinn and humankind only that they might worship Me.”
(surah Ad-Dhaariyat, verse 56)
Humans, and Jinn, are created for ibadat, which means to obey The Creator’s orders of what to do and what not to do!
I was born in 1952 and I am now 68 years old. I came into this world alone, and one day, I shall go back alone too.
That is a common rule for all.
But during these 68 years, I got married, became the father of a daughter and four sons, and then the grandfather of fifteen grandchildren. Alhamdulillah.
Bringing them up within halal limits was a challenge and to give them a set of rules for a respectable life was very difficult.
My education was all in Arabic, and my parents were very simple (may they be resting in Jannat) Ameen.
I never attended a single class of Urdu or Persian in my life, but I am now presenting a book which is a rendering of Allama Iqbal’s Persian collection!
In this I got answers to all my questions as the “Jawed Nama” was a set of rules and advice from a loving and caring father to his son.
Introduction
“Jawed Nama” is a comprehensive explanation of how we, the Muslims, lost our dignity amongst other nations after being the best of them.
The Quran says in Surah Ra’ad, verse 11,
“For him are angels ranged before him and behind him, who guard him by Allah's command. Lo! Allah changeth not the condition of a folk until they (first) change that which is in their hearts; and if Allah willeth misfortune for a folk there is none that can repel it, nor have they a defender beside Him.”
So, Allah will not change the condition of people until they change what is in themselves.
When we were loyal to Islam and sincere followers of our Prophet (SAAWS), we gained respect from all people. But when we changed our loyalties, Allah (SWT) also changed our condition.
If we want to regain this lost status, we must change ourselves first, and since nations are made up of small families joined together, it is the head of every family who will have to begin the change!
“Address to Jawed” is all about this.

My presentation is not just a simple translation from Persian, it is also an effort to make it understandable to everyone.
Please don’t be hasty in reading it. Don’t jump to the second line or the next paragraph until you have understood the contents of what you read, and keep in mind it is the story of an era covering almost 1400 years.
And remember, nothing can be achieved without effort and pain! As Rumi said,
“A diamond is chiselled a thousand times before it becomes a Jewel.”
