Sayed M. Irfan is a retired professional engineer and an academic who currently resides in Vancouver, Canada. He completed his ‘O’ Levels from St. Paul’s High School, Karachi in 1973; then attended Adamjee Science College and finally graduated as a civil engineer from NED University, Karachi, in 1981.
Following a two-decade exposure of the industrial economy, Sayed Irfan pursued a graduate degree in industrial engineering from NED University in 2002 and subsequently took up a full-time faculty position in the Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering at NED University. Disillusioned with Pakistan's fractured political system and its fragmented economy, the author eventually immigrated to Canada in 2011.
He has authored an autobiography—Shadows of the Rainbow—that got published in 2019, which recounts his college and university days. A forthcoming autobiography—Experiencing Pakistan: Across a Lifetime—cuts across his entire lifetime experiences, portraying a vivid personal trajectory besides interesting political, cultural, and historical insights that resonate with Pakistan's multi-dimensional identity.
His other interests besides writing are cricket, Urdu poetry, old Indian and Pakistani film songs, and mundane philosophy!
