What you can cancel, when, and how you get your money back. Everything here is done from My Orders — you never need to email us to start it.
While your order is still with us, you can cancel it yourself from My Orders. There is no penalty, no deadline to beat and nothing to ask for — the button is on the order, and the moment you press it the order stops.
There is no time limit on this. What matters is whether the parcel has left us, not how long ago you ordered: an order still sitting in our warehouse a week later is just as cancellable as one placed an hour ago.
If you paid online, we owe you the money back. The order page asks for your bank or wallet details straight away, and the refund is processed within 24 to 48 hours of you providing them. You can watch it move on the order itself: Order cancelled → Refund initiated → Refund complete.
If you chose cash on delivery, nothing was ever charged, so there is nothing to refund.
Once the courier has collected your parcel we cannot recall it, and the order can no longer be cancelled. Your dashboard says so plainly on the order rather than offering a button that would not work.
You have two options: accept the delivery and return it (below), or refuse it at the door. Refusing a cash-on-delivery parcel is not free. It comes back to us as a return, we are still charged by the courier for the round trip, and a one-off Rs 200 refused-delivery fee is added to your next order. You are not charged for the books.
We would much rather you accepted it and returned it — it costs you the same or less and gets you a full refund.
Start it from the order in My Orders. Then:
Please send books back in the condition they arrived in. A book that comes back damaged or incomplete may not qualify for a full refund.
If we send the wrong book, or it arrives damaged or misprinted, you should not be out of pocket at all.
Report it from the order. You still post the book back so we can see what happened, but as well as refunding you in full we give you a free-delivery voucher, applied automatically to your next order. We do not ask for your courier receipt — we simply pay for your next delivery instead.
E-books cannot be cancelled, returned or refunded. They are delivered the instant your payment clears, they are readable immediately, and there is nothing to send back.
Every paid e-book on Daastan has a free sample you can read before buying, and hundreds of complete books cost nothing at all — so you never have to buy one unseen. If an e-book will not open, or you were charged for the wrong title, that is a fault rather than a refund request: tell us and we will fix it.
Refunds go back by bank transfer, EasyPaisa or JazzCash, whichever you choose. We ask for those details on the order at the point the refund becomes due, so nothing has to be chased by email afterwards.
Refunds are processed within 24 to 48 hours of the point they become payable — for a cancellation, once you give us your details; for a return, once the book reaches us. How quickly it then appears is up to your bank or wallet provider.
Every request you raise, and the state it is in, is listed under Issues in My Orders, so you never have to remember which order it was against.
This page covers books bought from the bookstore. Payments for publishing packages are milestone payments for work carried out on your manuscript — editing, design, ISBN registration, printing — and are handled under the agreement for that package rather than by this policy. If you have a question about one, talk to us.
Raise anything about an order from the order itself in My Orders — it reaches us with the details already attached, and you can follow its progress there. For anything else, contact us.
